Tyler Cooper for Sheriff

Wagoner County Rancher, Family Man, Officer, and Republican Tyler Cooper announced his candidacy for Wagoner County Sheriff.

Tyler is a dedicated family man and a born-again believer. He has lived and served the community of Wagoner County with his wife, Rachael, and his growing family since 2014. Before moving to Wagoner County, Tyler was completing his master’s degree in criminal analysis and fulfilling his service time with the Air National Guard in Ohio.

Tyler graduated High School from Xenia Christian in 2006. He immediately enlisted in the Air National Guard and went off to basic training. Following graduation from basic training, he earned his first degree at Wright State University: a bachelor’s degree in business management. Tyler and Rachael met on his second deployment to Kyrgyzstan in 2010 under Operation Enduring Freedom. Following their wedding, Tyler and Rachael moved to the family ranch in 2014 after completing their Air Force service commitments. They bought their first thirty head of cattle, beginning the direct-to-consumer beef operation of E2C Cattle Co.

In late 2014, Tyler began his law enforcement journey after being hired as a Detention Officer in the Wagoner County Jail. At the end of 2015, he was selected for CLEET, the Oklahoma Police Academy, to become a Wagoner County Sheriff’s Deputy.

Tyler departed from Wagoner County in 2017 and began working full-time at GRDA Police. He continued to work for Wagoner County as a Reserve Officer. Tyler was promoted to Lieutenant in 2018 within GRDA Police and was chosen to attend the 15th OSBI Agents Academy. He has continued to gain leadership experience at GRDA, with responsibilities that include payroll, dive team, training cadre, scheduling, and budget. He directly oversees nineteen employees and is one of nine administrators of the GRDA police force, which has over eighty officers.

Tyler is active in the Wagoner County and Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Associations and is the deputy treasurer for Grace Baptist Church just outside of Wagoner. “The Lord has blessed me with the opportunity to run for this office. I thank God for my local church, my family, and our home in Wagoner County.”
